shall和should有什么区别和联系？

should作情态动词表示“应该怎样”。

shall用于第一、三人称疑问句中时，表示征求对方的意见或者请示对方；用于第二人称和第三人称陈述句的时候，表示说话人给对方的命令和警告。

1、should是shall的过去式。从意思上看，should和shall都是应该的意思，表示建议或劝告。

What shall we do now?

我们现在该怎么做？

It's too late, we should go home now.

太晚了，我们该回家了。

当表示建议和意见时，should的语气比shall强硬。

2、在疑问句中，shall和should都表示征求意见。两者用法相似，但shall是试探性的，渴望对方赞同自己的意见；should更倾向于让对方给出中肯的意见。

我能把灯关了吗？

shall：

shall在主语是第一人称时，单纯的“表将来”或“表意志”。

当主语是第二、第三人称时，表示意图、命令、警告、威胁、规定、许诺、必然等等。

You shall go to school on time.

你该按时上学。（表规定）

Spring shall come.

春天必然会到来。（表必然性）

should：

①表示责任和义务

We should keep discipline.

②主语是第一人称时，表示“想”

③表示推断
